After some pinching and tweaking, we have a working draft of the co-designed logo, overseen by Aron Evans of A&O Studios, which emerged out of the three community workshops. Everyone involved had valuable input - in fact, the logo ended up being about as collaborative as it's possible to imagine. It boils down a range of visual elements and "mood" impressions into a single, strong image that combines Rhondda Cynon Taf iconography (steps, terraced roofs, hills, valleys) with a sense of community "emplacedness". The result is geo-branding that promotes and protects local sustainable development in the RCT area. The logo is freely available to any food producer or retailer in RCT under the terms of the Creative Commons license.
Meanwhile, Sophie, Rob and I are pulling our notes together into a presentation that will be given at Aberystwyth University's new Engagement Cafe. The Food Engagement Wales project will also form part of a presentation on public connection at Wales's premier academic talent hot-house, Welsh Crucible, this summer.
It's been a fantastic experience working with Nancy and Aron, as well as with community members, local food producers, students and staff at Glyncoch Community Centre, sharing inspiration, ideas and visions for sustainable business synergies. Thanks to everyone who helped make the experience so rewarding.
